Who makes more money, a bootstrapped entrepreneur or an entrepreneur who raises a lot of VC money?

Lately, a lot of people have been asking me this question, and it’s a question I like, as it’s very rarely talked about — and the numbers…are surprising. My answer was originally posted to Quora, but I figured I’d make a blog post about it. ¶ This one is quite tricky, but I can speak from personal experience having done both, and decided to bootstrap. The reasons to bootstrap are not only financial, but I definitely rank finance high up. ¶ If you raise money, you set yourself a timer & a target to hit, every round. If you don’t hit it, you could be fired.
